Dr. Robert Schmidt, Medical Director
Dr. Schmidt is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in total hip and total knee replacement surgery, arthroscopic surgery of the knee, and complex reconstruction of the hip and knee. He founded Texas Hip and Knee Center in 1989.
Dr. Schmidt graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., and received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. After an internship in general surgery at UCLA, he completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Virginia. He subsequently was a recipient of the esteemed Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Mass. During that time, he also served as a clinical instructor in orthopedic surgery at Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
Dr. Schmidt has performed over 10,000 hip and knee surgeries. His current research interests include knee component design, ligament balancing in knee replacement surgery, and the treatment of hip and knee prosthetic infection.
Claire has been with SCA Health since 2017 and served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Texas Health Surgery Center Addison a multi-specialty ASC. Claire currently serves as CEO for Texas Health Joint Replacement Surgery Center. Prior to SCA Health, Claire worked with Texas Health Resources located in Arlington as a health system project manager focusing on performance improvement and waste reduction. Claire received her Bachelor of Science from Louisiana Tech University in Health Informatics and Information Management and Master’s of Science in Healthcare Leadership and Management from the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas.
Melissa has been with SCA Health since 2017 and currently serves as the Director of Nursing with Texas Health Joint Replacement Surgery Center (THJRC). Prior to THJRC, she served as the Director of Nursing with Texas Health Surgery Center Park Hill, a multispecialty ASC. Prior to SCA Health Melissa served as the Clinical Exercise Specialist with The Heart Center of North Texas. Melissa received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington.
